Mark Williams Is The Winter Mileage Challenge Winner---Again

Mark won the 2nd annual Mt. Baker HOG Chapter winter mileage challenge with 3,770 miles. It's Obvious Mark loves to ride far and often and does not let the weather interfere.

Mark also won the inaugural mileage challenge last year and I am sure he is planning ahead. Mark rode 2,155 last year so he improved his record this year by 1,615. Next year it may take 5,000 to beat Mark.

H-D Furniture

Gary MacDonald submitted the following link if you are interested in decorating your home with H-D leather furniture. Just after Gary sent me the story Larry and I walked into Red Rock Harley-Davidson in Las Vegas and saw the furniture first hand. If you are interested, a chair only cost $3,400.00 plus tax and shipping.

Harley-Davidson's response to the New York Times imminent demise as reported in BusinessWeek

“After a New York Times article cataloged these problems in March, Harley-Davidson responded with typical attitude: "You can file our obituary where the sun don't shine." This message in an ad in the Mar. 29 newspaper ended with Harley's tag line: "Screw It. Let's Ride."

HOGs...You Can Help Hines Oregon Win Fire Truck

The following story was sent to me a volunteer firefighter in Hines Oregon, which is south of Baker City. He owns two Harley’s, a 64 FLH and a 05 FLHTC.

My name is Jonathan Manski, a Volunteer FF from the Hines Vol Fire Dept in remote eastern Oregon. I am asking you to share our story with your membership.

We have found ourselves as one of seven finalists in the E-One fire apparatus Engine give-away “Tell us your story” contest. Designed to find the most deserving fire department in the Country, the manufacturer will give away a brand new engine on April 25 to the Fire Department receiving the most votes. FREE!

Seven fine communities are hoping to win a new apparatus, something financially unreachable for these small Departments. We are proud of the jobs we have been asked to do and the tradition of brotherhood that goes along with it, even for a small, rural volunteer department.

Just this last month, we have had 2 of our 19 members who are in the Oregon National Guard, deploy to Iraq, now serving our Country as well as their community. We have several bikers and Patriot Guard amongst us, and we all know bikers and firefighters have common interests.

I am asking that you pass my note around to your HOG members and of our need for help from our Harley friends in voting for the Department most deserving of receiving this new E-One pumper.

Here is the link, after you vote a confirming email is sent to each person voting that you must complete to have your vote counted.

The link to the contest stories are here:

http://www.e-one.com/news/eone-stories/vote-for-the-best-story.htm?id=649 We hope you and your membership will vote for our story at the Hines, Oregon VFD, but use your judgment in deciding who is most deserving.

Please network this around, as this is now a popularity contest.

My regards and thanks,
Jonathan Manski
